The selection starts with Broadway, a number long favoured by mainstream bands.

Louise Hobbs, the Band's vocalist and always a popular feature of the Band's performances, makes her first appearance on the CD with Peter Shepherd's attractive new arrangement of "Dream a Little Dream" - a song recorded by Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald. John's bass and Frank Brown's guitar introduce Louise's vocal chorus which is followed by the Band, both ensemble and in solo.

This song is followed by a feature for John Phillips on tenor sax, playing Antonio Carlos Jobim's tune "Girl From Ipanema". A gentle bossa beat from the rhythm section underpins a smooth solo by John, recalling Stan Getz' recording of this popular latin number.

Louise's next number is a favourite of the Band. After an out of tempo rendition of the seldom heard verse, she launches into Cole Porter's "Just One Of Those Things" at a driving tempo.

The Band has always included numbers by the Big Bands of the Swing era in its repertoire. Duke Ellington's "In a Mellow Tone" is a favourite of that period.

"Till There Was You", a song associated with Peggy Lee and The Beatles, is given the latin treatment by Louise and the Band, with Frank Brown's guitar playing a strong supporting role.

The final number of this selection is "Swingin' at the Crown", one of several written specially for the Band by Frank, typical of the Band's mainstream style.
